It’s been a very busy year already – I can’t believe it’s the middle of July already. Where has the time gone?
The year started out with announcing that I was going to build a teardrop camper. In his most loving way, my hubby gave me the look and said “really??” Turns out, my building skills really aren’t that great and “about 12 1/2” is not good enough. So, in the dead of winter we built a teardrop camper.
Max started out as a box of trailer parts and a pile of lumber and paneling. We spent many nights and weekends designing, measuring, laying out, cutting, more measuring, more laying out and problem solving. We face many challenges and overcame all of them. It was not all “”hunky dory”. There were many times I heard “if this doesn’t work, Max is going up in flames”. But we persevered and continued on.
And then came the first outing with Max – my Mother’s Day weekend trip. This was the big shake out trip. We checked and tested everything in the days leading up to this first shake down. Would everything work as it should? Will pieces fall apart as I went down the road? Would I even be able to back up Max into a camp site? And what about rain? Would Max leak?
As I pulled out of the driveway that sunny Friday morning, all my fears and worries went away. I knew in my heart that all of our hard work had paid off and that Max was going to be perfect for my solo adventures. In my eyes, Max was perfect and with the help of my wonderful, loving husband, turned out even better than I could ever imagine.
Max has now been out twice this year – but I look forward to so many more adventures. Stella, Max and I are going to have a great time. And hubby of course is always welcome to join us….
In the meantime – stay tuned for updates on other stuff I’ve been up to.
